The process of collecting local history is similar to putting together a jigsaw puzzle – and there are always a few missing pieces to be found. The Historical Society welcomes contributions that have some connection or relevance to historical San Marcos-people, places, events, and/or culture. For more information on contributing an artifact or photo, contact us by phone or email.
With the completion of the Welcome Center, the Historical Society has created a “Wish List” of items that will be needed to furnish the building. Items needed include conference room furniture, heavy duty storage shelving, audio visual equipment, a microwave oven, and much more. We gratefully accept in-kind donations or financial contributions to purchase these items. Email us to receive a copy of our complete Wish List. In-kind donations and contributions to the San Marcos Historical Society are tax deductible.
The San Marcos Historical Society welcome Scouts, youth groups, service organizations and faith centers to plan a community service project at Heritage Park. There are many ways to help our organization thrive. Examples might include a clean-up day, plant a garden, paint a fence, or help change a display case. Community service projects are customized to fit the age and size of the participating organization. When planning a service day, the Historical Society will be on hand to provide historical home tours and participants can enjoy a picnic lunch under a shade tree. Please contact the Historical Society at least 4 weeks in advance of scheduled service day.
