Internships
The San Marcos Historical Society offers a variety of volunteer internship opportunities for high school and college students in the subject areas of Local History, Public Relations, Public Speaking, Education, Marketing, Graphics, Photography and/or Museum Display. Internships are designed to give students appropriate training when needed followed by practical, hands-on experience in one or more of the areas listed above. Length of internship must be at least 8 weeks and preferably one academic semester, or 40 hours during summer months. A Historical Society representative will work with the student and their teacher or school advisor to create project objectives, expected outcomes, timeline and a schedule that is agreed upon by all parties prior to the beginning of the internship. Students who satisfactorily complete the internship will receive a letter of recommendation and Certificate of Community Service from the San Marcos Historical Society. The Historical Society will be working closely with local school districts, and colleges to provide coursework credit for volunteer internship hours. Contact us for internship applications. |
